The working visit of HM King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan to Qatar last week aimed to strengthen brotherly ties and close bilateral relations between Qatar and Jordan, said Ambassador of Jordan to Qatar HE Zeid Mufleh Al Lozi.
During their meeting, the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HM King Abdullah II, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields in order to achieve the common aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
Talking to Qatar Tribune about the royal visit, Ambassador Al Lozi said, “The visit of His Majesty to Qatar and the summit with his brother HH the Amir reflects the depth and roots of historical relations between the two countries, and also confirms the permanent coordination between the two countries’ leaderships towards bilateral relations and major regional and global issues.
“His Majesty’s visit to Doha is important due to the delicate and sensitive circumstances that the region is going through, which require consultation and cooperation to face various challenges.”
He pointed out that the Jordanian-Qatari summit carries important messages, as it confirms the momentum of close relations between the two countries, as bilateral relations have always remained strong, historical and rooted, and also confirms that both Doha and Amman are in direct contact and constant coordination towards Arab and Islamic issues, pointing out that mutual visits between the leaders of the two countries translate the strength of relations that are witnessing continuous development.
He also pointed out the keenness to upgrade bilateral relations in various fields, as Doha and Amman are pushing for the settlement of security and stability in the region and playing leading roles in defending the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Lozi said, “Jordan highly appreciates the continuous Qatari support for Jordan’s guardianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Occupied Jerusalem. The relations between the two countries are witnessing great prosperity and recovery, thanks to the mutual desire of the parties to push them to wider horizons and achieve the hopes and aspirations of the two peoples.”
The visit of the king of Jordan to Qatar comes as part of series of Arab meetings at the level of leaders and in view of developments related to issues on the Arab and international arenas, particularly the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people and the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in addition to the latest developments and repercussions of the war in Ukraine.
Since its inception at the ambassadorial level 50 years ago, in 1972, bilateral relations between Qatar and Jordan have witnessed significant development and growth in all fields and at all levels, especially economic and commercial, thanks to the wise visions of the leaderships of the two countries, until they have become a model for Arab relations that serve security and stability issues in the region.
Over the years, relations between Qatar and Jordan have witnessed momentum in the mutual official visits of ministers, senior officials, businessmen and trade and economic delegations, which resulted in the signing of a number of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding that strengthen strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
These agreements and memorandums of understanding cover bilateral cooperation in the military, security, legal, customs and investment fields, mutual protection of investments, mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and private passports, media, health, culture, youth and sports, air and sea transport, double taxation, municipal affairs and tourism cooperation, as well as cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two countries.
