Year 2022 took bilateral relations between Qatar and Algeria to the new heights and strong strategic relationship in all sectors, Ambassador of Algeria to Qatar HE Dr Mostefa Boutora has said.

On the eve of the celebrations of National Day of Algeria, the envoy said that official visits by President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Doha in February and November 2022; and visits by the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Algeria in June and November 2022 contributed tremendously in furthering strategic bilateral relations between both countries.

He said the constitution of the mechanism for political consultation on the level of foreign ministers was signed on February 20, 2022 during the state visit by Algerian president to Doha.

“An important framework was chalked out on mutual approach on various regional and international issues in order to further strengthen bilateral coordination and political consultations, including Palestinian issue and Libyan crisis under the auspicious of the United Nations,” he said.

He added that bilateral relations can be witnessed from the number of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed on those occasions, from the official launching ceremony of Bolara Steel Plant on November 1, 2022 to laying of foundation stone of 400-bed Algeria’s German-Qatar Hospital, among other projects.

The envoy said that he foresees the continued momentum in both countries relationship in all sectors and at all levels, including political, economic and investment fields.

Dr Boutora praised qualitative contributions and hard work of his community members towards historical development of Qatar in various fields, including doctors, members of the academia, engineers, pilots, media professionals, other professionals as well as members of the Algerian business community.

Praising the hospitality and positive interaction of the people of host country, he said that it has a significant impact on the easy integration of Algerian community members and their family members in this generous country. He said the Algerian community participates and contributes in various cultural, sports and healthy activities organised in Qatar. The most prominent of which was their distinctive participation in various events held on the occasion of the 2022 World Cup. The Algerian children equally took part in displaying their country’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, a legacy, a symbol of Algeria’s cultural identity, he said. Dr Boutora congratulated the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and people of Qatar on the outstanding and successful hosting of best ever edition of the FIFA World Cup, which will remain a source of pride for every Arab and Muslim.
