The Doha Players, a Doha-based non-profit community theatre group since 1954, is presenting ‘Blood Brothers’ from today at the Hamilton International School Doha Theatre.

The evening performance will be held on February 2, 3, 8, 9 and 17. Matinee performances will be on Saturdays, February 4 and 11.

The full length musical play is by Willy Russell, award winning author of Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine.

The play won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical and its 1987 revival played more than 10,000 consecutive performances during its 24-year West End run and a two year run on Broadway. It’s currently touring the UK and Ireland.

The play revolves around twins Mickey and Eddie, who were secretly separated at birth, one being raised in a wealthy family, the other in a poor family. A narrator warns that a price has to be paid for separating twins.

‘Play Blood Brothers is produced by Jonathan Tulip and directed by Cynthia Tulip.

The Doha Players Theatre has organised around 200 plays since its inception in 1954.
