QNA AmsterdamQatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality (MoM), participated in the agricultural exhibition ‘GreenTech 2022’ in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, which focuses on protected and indoor crops, and presents the latest technology in this field.The ministry was represented by Director of the Agricultural Affairs Department Yousef Khaled Al Khulaifi and Director of the Food Security Department Dr Masoud Jarallah Al Marri, with the aim of reviewing new development in the field of protected and indoor agriculture, which is considered the strategic option to reach self-sufficiency in vegetables, especially in the summer period.The Ministry of Municipality also signed a joint cooperation in the field of developing agriculture under smart greenhouses with Wageningen University and Research, one of the world’s leading universities in the field of agriculture and food security.The cooperation agreement was signed by Director of the Food Security Department Dr Masoud Jarallah Al Marri and Director of the Business Unit at Wageningen University in the Netherlands Dr Sjaak Bakker.The agreement allows cooperation in the field of developing agriculture in greenhouses to achieve self-sufficiency in vegetables in accordance with the National Food Security Strategy, in addition to contributing to building human cadres through scholarships, training courses and technical advice.
