Qatar Charity (QC) has launched Alaqraboon, a platform that includes a bunch of community programmes and initiatives implemented in Qatar, as part of its continuous efforts to serve the local community and contribute to its development.
The inaugural ceremony of the platform was attended by Minister of Social Development and Family HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad and Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Charity HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani.
Speaking at the ceremony, Misnad expressed her happiness at the launch of Qatar Charity’s ‘Alaqroboon’ platform.
She praised the upgraded version of the ‘Alaqraboon’ app, stressing that it is important to deliver aid to the deserving people in a quick and dignified manner.
The minister also thanked those in charge of the platform, Qatar Charity and all the humanitarian workers.
“Since the early years of its founding, Qatar Charity has been keen to contribute to the efforts of social, economic and cultural development within Qatar by delivering assistance and implementing programmes that serve the different sections of the community,” said Qatar Charity’s CEO Yousuf bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.
He added that this is in parallel with the projects implemented outside Qatar for the benefit of crisis-affected people and poverty-stricken communities.
He pointed out that Qatar Charity’s activity has grown significantly in terms of quantity and quality, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, whether at the level of projects implemented by its concerned departments and its community development centres, or the social assistance provided within the ‘Alaqraboon’ initiative’, as well as encouraging and supporting youth and volunteer initiatives.
Kuwari said QC delivered projects and social assistance worth more than QR233 million last year within Qatar, including nearly QR195 million aid for low-income families, divorced and widowed women, those in debt and other humanitarian cases.
He said the volume of the assistance during the past three years amounted to about QR470 million while the number of the sponsored like orphans increased to nearly 1,000.
During the ceremony, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani launched the upgraded version of the ‘Alaqraboon’ app.
