Qatar University (QU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MEEZA to enhance joint cooperation between them and benefit from the common capabilities of the two parties in all scientific, technical, research and administrative fields.The MoU was signed by HE QU President Dr Hassan Rashid Al Derham and MEEZA CEO Eng. Ahmed Al Muslemani.
The MoU comes within the framework of Qatar University's support for the initiative of MEEZA - a Qatari IT solution company- represented by the MEEZA Academy, which is a new initiative aimed at selecting, training and developing the skills of university students and recent graduates in the field of information technology.
The initiative seeks to enhance cybersecurity in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, to explore more opportunities to develop the skills of Qatar University students in information technology and to give human resources in Qatar more care and attention.
In this context, the MoU provided for exchanging experiences, empowering the skills of Qatar University graduates and students, and developing new student competencies in the technology sector, in addition to exchanging information, including bulletins, periodicals, studies, statistics and data.
QU President Dr Hassan Rashid Al Derham said that cooperation with MEEZA reflects QU's commitment to commitment to harnessing its resources and capabilities to support economic growth in the country, stressing that the MoU goes in the same direction and opens new horizons for cooperation in various scientific, administrative, technical and research fields.
He added that the university has always appreciated the vital role played by the leading Qatari information technology companies in serving the country and raising awareness among young generations of the various technological developments and innovations around the world in order to furnish them with the knowledge that leads them and the country into a brighter future.
For his part, Eng. Ahmed Abdullah Al Muslemani said that MEEZA Academy is a new initiative that aims to prepare a new generation of experts capable of supporting the growing demands in Qatar's IT sector, in line with the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.
He pointed to the role assigned to the initiative in refining students' skills in the field of information technology and helping them keep pace with the continuous changes in this vital field and the labor market, in addition to the benefit they get from practical training at MEEZA, and the possibility of securing job opportunities in the future.
