Relief efforts of the Humanitarian Funds of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Turkey and Syria continue, as Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Hassan Al Thani, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Humanitarian Funds of the OIC in Doha, supervised the distribution of aid to the earthquake victims.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz and the accompanying delegation also inspected the condition of those affected by the disaster and assessed their needs.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz said his visit was very important in conveying the suffering of the affected people to the Arab and Islamic world, as well as "in doing our part in a big way to support the brothers in Turkey and Syria”. He indicated that the extent of the destruction he witnessed was huge and could not be described by words, and that the Humanitarian Funds would seek to provide all forms of support and aid. He thanked Qatar for its urgent intervention, as well as of all Arab and Islamic countries.

Sheikh Abdulaziz expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Father Amir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who have sponsored these funds since their inception, as well as the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its unlimited support for the programmes.

He added: "The support of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, was the reason for the funds to have a distinguished headquarters to carry out their role to the fullest extent in Qatar. The State of Qatar, under its wise leadership, is one of the leading countries in the field of regional and international humanitarian work, and it enjoys a prominent position in this aspect thanks to its humanitarian and charitable institutions.”

The teams of Humanitarian Funds continue to provide aid that includes tents, blankets, medical and in-kind aid, and emergency food in Kilis, Gaziantep, Hatay, Rehaniyeh and Iskenderun, as well as the Syrian border areas that were greatly affected by the earthquake.

The Humanitarian Funds seek to implement their development and relief projects through concluding international strategic partnerships to serve the humanitarian work, as the funds of the OIC reached several international strategic partnerships during official visits with a delegation headed by Sheikh Dr Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Hassan Al Thani.
