Pakistan International School Qatar (PIS-Q) organised its Annual Sports Meet in an impressive manner recently.
The opening ceremony was graced by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar HE Muhemmed Aejaz, Vice Chairman of PIS-Q Masood Gul and Principal Nargis Raza Otho. Vice principals and academic heads of all the five sections and a number of other dignitaries were also present.
The ambassador and the principal took the salute of the welcome parade. The ambassador cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially declare the event open.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the sports torch. It was followed by a magnificent walk past. Hassan Elahi, the best athlete student (Boys Wing), administered the formal oath to the participating athletes. A peppy welcome dance and an energising exercise drill by tiny tots of KG Wing followed. The students of the Primary Wing and the Girls Wing regaled one and all with their graceful moves.
The main attraction of the day was the instrumental drill by students of the Primary Wing. It was followed by a very attractive PT display by the Girls Wing. The events included a good variety of events like formula one race, sprint race, racket ball and basket race, hula hoop race, skill relay race, and flat race. The traditional Greek dance performance presented by athletes of Cambridge Wing was also applauded.
The ever so popular tug of war among male teachers gave drew much attention. The students cheered in support of their favourite teachers. The team led by Aamir Abbas won. A musical chair competition among female teachers was also organised.
Parents were thrilled to see their children showing such passion for sports. At the "80 meter keeping the basket filled race” that involved only the children, the parents were very excited, cheering very hard from the sidelines.
The principal accompanied by vice principals and heads of all the five wings felicitated and awarded the winners. She thanked the parents for gracing the event. Muazzam Jah and Naheed Nadeem compered the event.
