Ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar HE Khaled Al Mutairi has commended the special and distinguished relationship between Qatar and his country, including at the level of political leadership. He was addressing a gala reception hosted by him in celebration of the 62nd anniversary of the National Day of Kuwait and 32nd anniversary of Kuwait’s Liberation, at Sheraton Grand Doha Hotel.

Present on the occasion were HE Hassan bin Abdulla Al Ghanim, Speaker Shura Council; HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, State Minister and President of Qatar National Library; HE Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs; HE Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change; HE Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al-Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; HE Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad bin Abdulla Al Thani;Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani; HE Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro, Director Department of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; HE Ali Ibrahim Ahmed, Ambassador of Eritrea and Dean of Diplomatic Corps; dignitaries, ambassadors and guests.

The envoy said, "Celebrating this annual occasion, people of Kuwait remember with pride and love the struggle of their ancestors, who contributed greatly to peace, harmony and well-being in the country. They left a vast legacy of glory that necessitates significant efforts for the development, growth and preservation of these values.”

He expressed his gratitude to the brotherly and friendly countries all over the world that helped Kuwait in its difficult times with great sacrifices, at the forefront of the fight to liberate the country in 1991. Qatar played a prominent role in this battle to replenish the rights of its people and strengthen their struggle against greedy ambitions, he added.

He added that, since the establishment of independence in Kuwait in 1961, the excellent relations between countries around the world that were built on peace and amicable principles, have caused neighbouring countries of Kuwait to unite in efforts to secure the fate of the Arab Gulf states.

Al Mutairi paid his deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria.

The Kuwaiti envoy said that throughout its history Kuwait has always been a dove of peace and a hand of goodness and generosity to needy countries and peoples around the world, and it has made great contributions to alleviating the suffering of people in the afflicted regions. "In recent years, we have been keen to increase donations to countries affected by disasters and crises,” he said.

In his closing remarks the envoy thanked all the dignitaries, diplomats and guests for their participation in the celebrations of his country’s National Day and Liberation Day, and also those contributed to organising the mega event.
