Qatar University (QU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Language Institute of the Qatar Armed Forces to enhance cooperation between them and benefit from the capabilities of each other in the academic and scientific fields and exchanging experiences. The MoU was signed by QU’s Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr Omar Al Ansari and Director of the Languages Institute Brigadier-General (Pilot) Hassan Abdullah Ahmed Al Abdullah.
The agreement stipulates joint work in exchange of experiences and information to enhance scientific and research cooperation, including organising conferences, seminars, workshops and lectures, as well as holding training courses to raise competencies and build capacity for the Qatari community.
In a statement, Dr Ansari said, “It gives us great pleasure to sign an agreement with the Language Institute of the Qatari Armed Forces. Despite the different tasks and disciplines of both institutions, we share several goals, including the idea of preparing a conscious, educated person with knowledge who can deal with life changes at a high level of education. We are very pleased to have reached this stage, which will enable both parties to benefit from the joint capabilities that serve the two institutions.”
On his part, Brigadier-General (Pilot) Abdullah said, “We are honoured to be here at Qatar University, signing an agreement after many discussions between the two parties.
This agreement comes with the aim of exchanging experiences in the scientific and academic field between the two parties to develop the competencies and cadres in the two institutions, and joint cooperation in organising conferences, seminars and workshops, and working on joint and new programmes between the two parties.”
He pointed out that the Language Institute of the Qatari Armed Forces has in its education eight different languages, and has many translated books on military terminology.He added that the institute has an accredited IELTS centre and in 2022 the institute was awarded the best IELTS centre of the British Council with a percentage of 93 percent.
