Nasser Yacoob held off his Bahraini compatriot Adnan Mubarak to win the Qatar Senior Open Golf Championship at the Doha Golf Club in an exciting finish.
Both Yacoob and Mubarak, with five over par each gross, were tied at the top at the end of the regulation play on Saturday. They needed two playoffs to decide the champion and it was Yacoob who was crowned the champion.
The third place was grabbed by Qatar's Abdulaziz al Boainin, who carded a six over par aggregate.
In the ladies section, Tasnim Kazi bagged the title, beating Teresa Joe Gow. Beth San Jose came third.
Fahad Nasser al Naimi, Qatar Golf Association (QGA) Secretary-General, and QGA Executive Director Mohammed Faisal al Naimi gave away the prizes.
The QGA and Doha Golf Club thanked main sponsor Ammico Contracting for their support to the event. They also thanked Gulf Lights, QALCO, JJ Infrastructure and AL Mohhana for their continuous backing. The two-day championship received an overwhelming response from players, attracting 120 golfers from GCC nations and Asia, besides local expatriates.
