Lusail University on Sunday announced the launch of two master's programmes in international criminal justice, in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and a master's program in international affairs and public policy in cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), as part of the university's expansion of academic programs offered at the Master's degree level.

During a press conference held to announce the launch of the two programmes, the university stated that the international criminal justice program is the culmination of the strategic partnership with the UNODC, with the aim of promoting crime prevention through education to lead to peaceful and sustainable societies.

The Master of Arts in International Affairs and Public Policy program comes in response to the great demand in the State of Qatar and the region to study this major, in addition to its importance in meeting the needs of the workforce in the local, regional and international labor market, especially in light of the increasing interest in the fields of international affairs and public policies and their connection with the growth of the world.

President of Lusail University Prof Nitham Hindi said that the educational objectives of the Master's Program in International Criminal Justice are developing skills in drafting laws, designing action plans, identifying best practices and writing reports and other projects, as well as preparing students to develop their legal competence in a changing world within the framework of criminal justice, transnational crimes and combating terrorism, encouraging analytical and critical thinking and creativity, providing students with extensive knowledge of the principles of criminal justice and human rights, in addition to promoting social cohesion, respect for professional ethics and social values, and constructive interaction with other countries.

He added that the Master's Programme in International Criminal Justice is a development of programs based on enhancing societal awareness of new crimes as one of the goals of sustainable development that the State of Qatar seeks to achieve, indicating that the program, which will be delivered in both Arabic and English, is in line with international standards in force in this field and also conforms to the international standards applied in university education for the master's degree.

For his part, Dean of the College of Education and Arts at Lusail University Dr Ramzi Nasser, highlighted during the press conference, the importance of the Master of Arts in International Affairs and Public Policy program as it focuses on studying the impact of economics, culture, education and political science on society. He pointed out that that the programme, which will be delivered in both Arabic and English, aims to provide students with theories, philosophies and concepts in international affairs and relations, as well as improving their technical, analytical and research skills by honing their skills in this field, through work and training with a group of international experts.
