The College of Education at Qatar University (QU) celebrated its 50th anniversary of its founding at a ceremony to highlight its important achievements and developments over the last five decades as the first institution of higher education in Qatar.

The ceremony was attended by QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham, Dean of the College of Education Sheikha Dr Hessa bint Hamad Al Thani, a number of university officials and university affiliates, including professors and students, in addition to a number of heads of departments and high school students.

During the ceremony, an introductory video about the College of Education was presented with an overview of its programmes and centres, and a video entitled ‘From Past to Present’ highlighting the Early Childhood Center, as well as an inspiring story segment with Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari, sports journalist and presenter with beIN - a graduate of the College of Education about his memories at the university.

In her speech on the occasion, Dean of the College of Education Dr Hessa H. Al Thani said, "Fifty years ago, the foundation stone of the College of Education was laid to be the starting point in building the human being, a human being enlightened by the principles of science and knowledge so every graduate in our college was a beacon and a teacher for the emerging generations, and a key actor in developing the reality of education in our societies.”

She added, "During 50 years, the college, with its various departments and centres, has been able to provide the community with leaders and expertise through the efforts of cadres that have taken it upon themselves to raise the educational production in our schools and educational and social institutions, despite the challenges and difficulties.”
