OPERATING under Qatar Foundation's (QF) Pre-University Education, Awsaj Academy Elementary School held several events celebrating the students' families recently.
From March 26 to 30, parents were invited to attend classes with their children to see how hard they work throughout the day. A special photo booth was available to commemorate parents attending and working hard alongside their children.
Siblings were invited to attend lunch, recess and prayer together. The week concluded with grandparents invited to a coffee hour where students recited the Holy Quran and shared a story about the history of Qatar. Islamic Studies, Qatar History and Arabic Language are all part of the national programmes.
Awsaj Academy Elementary School Principal, Theresa Garrison, said:"It is heartwarming to see so many parents, siblings and extended families together to celebrate their children's hard work and academic success. It certainly motivates the children to work harder and achieve excellence when they are encouraged positively by their loved ones."
Awsaj Academy is a K-12 school for predominantly Qatari students who may face academic challenges or have gaps in their learning. Students may have mild to moderate special needs, and function successfully in a classroom with nine other students and one specialised teacher.
Admissions are currently open for grades KG2, grade two and grade three, for students who do not require 'one to one support' but may have learning challenges.
