Sohni Dharti, a socio-cultural organisation of Pakistani expatriates residing in Al Khor, organised a colourful event to mark Pakistan Day.
The event commenced with the presentation of national anthems of Qatar and Pakistan.
The occasion saw the participation of students in different events like patriotic songs, poem recitation, speech delivery and tableaux highlighting the importance of Pakistan National Day. The event was also live streamed and broadcast live on social media platforms.
Children of various age groups took part in the patriotic songs context and demonstrated their language and presentation skills with deft. In the speech contest, the participating children paid tributes to Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Fatima Jinnah, Allama Iqbal and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement.
The winners of contests were: Patriotic songs (5-8 years): Abdul Ahad (1st), Areesha Arif (2nd) and Faizan Mustafa (3rd). Patriotic songs (9-14 years): Ayesha Inam (1st), Ayesha Arif (2nd) and Huria Sarwar and Amna Salman (3rd). Speech contest: Ayesha Binte Zafar (1st), Muhammad Ahmed Bhatti (2nd) and Sara Binte Zafar (3rd).
Community Welfare Attaché at the Pakistan Embassy Waheedullah Wazir, Chaudhary Mohammad Ajmal, Rana Anwar Ali, Haroon Qureishi, Liaqat Nawaz and Sarfaraz Ali of Sundar Trading Company expressed their happiness on the children’s performances and congratulated the winners. They also congratulated Sohni Dharti EXCOM for organising a successful event.
Sohni Dharti Chairman Shahid Mehmood Bhatti thanked the contestants, their parents, audience and distinguished guests for their participation in the event. He presented mementos to the guests and specially designed shields to the Sohni Dharti EXCOM to show his appreciation for the hard work and dedication they put in throughout the year.
