QATAR Museums (QM) is gearing up to host two dynamic and exciting educational events for the entire family to enjoy. One will be hosted at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the other in the iconic Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).
QM's successful Treasure Hunt is making a return on April 8. Between 12.30pm and 3.30pm, adults, children and families across Qatar can take part and compete in this educational adventure which will see visitors taken on a unique journey through both MIA and QM Gallery Al Riwaq, explore one of the world's greatest collections of Islamic Art, discover artworks by artist Dia al Azzawi and take part in a series of challenges. Prizes will be presented to lucky winners at the end of the event.
There will be two treasure hunts taking place at the same time, each tailored to a specific age group the first made up of families with young children, and the second made up of families with children over 12 years of age.
In addition, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art will host a family day on April 8, from 2pm to 5pm, in collaboration with University College London. The event is designed to encourage families to make the most of one of QM's biggest exhibitions currently on show 'I am the cry, who will give voice to me? *Dia al-Azzawi: A Retrospective (from 1963 until tomorrow)'.
The event will allow children to explore colours and shapes through various creative activities. In addition, people will be encouraged to visit the exhibition, express their ideas and highlight what inspires them by producing their own artwork whether painting, creating collages or sculptures.
The exhibition at Mathaf, which is currently running simultaneously at QM Gallery Al Riwaq, features work by the internationally acclaimed Iraqi artist Dia al Azzawi. The show examines the artist's career, starting as an art student in Iraq in the 1960's. Works spanning 50 years across a range of media are featured, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, print and artist books, incorporating original and limited editions of artworks on view for the very first time. The exhibition is open until April 16, 2017.

Spaces for the popular Treasure Hunt event are limited and filling up fast. Tickets cost QR50 per group (of up to five people) and can be purchased at the Museum of Islamic Art gift shop.
