The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) held a certificate distribution ceremony for the Public Works Authority’s (Ashghal) staff following the completion of a 14-week training programme on Administrative Development.

Present at the ceremony were Dr Jace Hargis associate vice president, academics, Dr Saheim Khalaf Al-Temimi, director of Continuing and Professional Education Directorate (CPE) at the University and Rashid Saeed Al-Hajri, acting HR Director, Ashghal.

The Continuing and Professional Education Directorate has tailored the training programme and courses based on the administrative needs of Ashghal. The programme consisted of four modules: workplace professionalism, computer applications, Microsoft Excel and General English. The training provided the staff with theoretical knowledge and applied skills related to communication, business etiquette, time management, customer service, business meetings, office management, relationship building and more.

Dr Salem Al-Naemi, president of UDST said: “It was a pleasure to collaborate with Ashghal on this particular initiative. We appreciate the trust that was put in our University to deliver this training. Learning is a never-ending process and as an applied University, our commitment does not end at graduation. We are keen on providing customised training solutions to suit the development requirements of working professionals within the public and private sectors. We look forward to future collaborations and we wish the participants, success and achievement in their professional life.”

Dr Saheim Khalaf Al-Temimi, director of UDST’s Continuing and Professional Education Directorate said: “We are celebrating today the outcome of a long-standing collaboration with Ashghal. CPE has provided the administrative staff of Ashghal with skills, information and the ability to apply their practical knowledge to the workplace. The agreements we have signed with a number of world-class educational partners enable us to offer internationally recognised programmes to professionals in Qatar and give the opportunities to our trainees to compete not only at a national level but also at an international level. We wish the trained professionals all the best and we look forward to new collaboration opportunities.”

The CPE Directorate at UDST has become a leader in the provision of customised training solutions in Qatar. In the past six months, CPE has delivered 14 courses to Ashghal and trained a total of 282 participants to date.
