The awards ceremony for London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (Lamda) qualifiers was held recently at Stafford Sri Lankan School Doha (SSLSD). The ceremony was attended by Sri Lankan Ambassador to Qatar HE PDPSA Liyanage. A hundred distinctions and 34 merit passes were awarded. SSLSD intends to continue holding Lamda examinations for SSLSD students and students of other schools.
Lamda is one of the UK's oldest and most respected awarding bodies. Lamda exams are about achievement recognising and rewarding the endeavours of each individual and about empowerment.
SSLSD was registered as a private centre for Lamda examinations in August 2016. The first batch of candidates faced the Solo Introductory Examinations in February. In all, 134 students from Year One to Three took the examination.
Lamda Licentiate and Associate Jo Foster visited Doha to examine candidates. She was impressed by the students' performances. She also conducted a seminar for the parents and a workshop for the teachers before leaving Doha.
