The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has identified 111 mosques in various regions of the country to revive the year of i’tikaf during the last ten days of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1444 AH.

In a statement, the ministry called on those wishing to perform i’tikaf to be keen on learning the jurisprudence of legal and beneficial i’tikaf corresponding to the noble Prophet’s guidance, and to adhere to i’tikaf in the specified mosques, which took into account the geographical location.

The ministry also stipulated that the age of the person in retreat should not be less than 18 years, or that the guardian be accompanied if the age of the person in retreat is less than that, provided that it is not less than 8 years, stressing the importance of personal hygiene and the cleanliness of the place of retreat, and the preservation of the property of the mosque.

Being endowed to all Muslims, with care not to disturb the worshippers with side conversations, and to harm the people of the mosque in general. The ministry warned those in i’tikaf not to hang clothes on the walls or columns and other mosque furniture, in order to preserve the general view of the houses of Allah the Almighty, and not to sleep or eat in places other than those designated for that.
