Aiming to promote and preserve Philippine culinary heritage and traditions, the Philippine Embassy in Qatar is marking the Filipino Food Month in April 2023 in partnership with several Filipino restaurants.

In collaboration with these restaurants, the embassy will pay tribute to Filipino chefs and restaurateurs who proudly bring the unique taste of the Philippines to Qatar.

The Filipino Food Month in Doha officially kicked off with the visit of Ambassador HE Lillibeth V Pono to FlaminGo restaurant on April 15 to thank the Filipino owner Leo Pasia for participating in the annual gastronomic celebration.

Ambassador Pono introduced and shared various Filipino dishes such as Balbacua, Kare-Kare, Sisig, Isaw, Pichi-Pichi, Puto Bumbong and Bibingka to Qatar-based foodies and social media influencers from different expat communities, including Rachel Morris, Gehad Alaarag and Khaled Ouda. They all embraced the mouthwatering delicacies served by the top-rated Filipino restaurant in Qatar.

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Monica Remsy S Calangian, Vice Consul Jeffrey Batac, and Cultural Attache Camille Manlapaz were also present at the event.

The embassy has encouraged all Filipinos in Qatar to take part in this initiative and invite their non-Filipino friends to be a part of this gastronomic experience and taste the uniqueness of Philippine flavours.
