khalid tawalbehDohaThe Community College of Qatar (CCQ) is continuing its success and excellence by providing more diverse and specialised academic programmes that cater to the needs of the local labour market.The college has enabled students to achieve their ambitions and goals, and to actively participate in achieving comprehensive national development goals, while providing them flexibility through blended education system to serve a larger segment of Qatari society. The college is keen on attracting the best specialised academic and administrative competencies, expanding to new buildings, and increasing the rate of absorption of its students. Dr Khaled Al-Horr, CCQ president, expressed his aspiration to enhance the college’s leading role in preparing qualified national cadres and enhancing the competitive capabilities of government institutions to achieve its vision of providing unique educational opportunities in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030. The college’s Board of Trustees commended the efforts of Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Nuaimi during his presidency of the College and his leadership role in developing academic programmes and introducing a new set of specialised programmes.Al-Horr has an extensive experience in the fields of higher education and vocational training. Prior to assuming the presidency of the CCQ, he held the position of President of the Qatar Finance and Business Academy since 2018, and he also held the position of Director of the Higher Education Authority at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education during 2013-2018. During his tenure at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, he was keen to develop regulations and systems for the higher education sector, such as licensing higher education institutions. The CCQ first opened its doors in September 2010, in collaboration with Community College of Houston, accepting 308 full-time students at its West Bay campus. Since its inception, the college has seen an increase in enrolment rates every semester and CCQ is today the fastest growing educational institution in Qatar, with a number of 5,000 students enrolled in its five educational buildings.The college and its local and international partners adopted a policy of continuous development, providing new and diverse educational opportunities and programmes of international standards to create an educational environment that stimulates creative thinking and innovation, enhancing the community college’s pioneering role in preparing specialised national cadres that meet the growing and developing needs of the labour market.The college enhances the competitive capabilities of government institutions, and keeps pace with the strategic directions of Qatar.
