The Eid Al-Fitr Festival at Souq Waqif, Souq Al Wakra and Old Doha Port, organised by the celebrations committee of the Private Engineering Office, is witnessing a large turnout of Qatari and resident families, and citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Large crowds are seen participating in the events and activities prepared by the celebrations committee of the Private Engineering Office, including skill games for all age groups and infantry teams’ performances, especially since the moderate weather helped everyone to go out into public spaces.

The celebrations committee stated that the Eid Al-Fitr Festival in Souq Waqif has always been a special occasion due to its presence in Doha downtown, adding that the Souq includes all the vital facilities needed by the visitor and restaurants of all kinds and tastes, eastern and western as well as traditional Qatari dishes.

Also, Souq Al Wakra hosts the Eid Al Fitr Festival after the successes it achieved on such an occasion and in other festivals over the past years. The Souq is distinguished by its unique heritage on the Al Wakra beachfront.

The show teams spread joy and pleasure in the hearts of visitors in each of Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakra with their luminous and lacy clothes, while they beat the drums in an enthusiastic musical atmosphere.

In a statement, the Old Doha Port said that several popular bands played many marine folklore songs at the port neighbourhood in front of the fish market, in addition to organizing activities for various groups with the participation of entertainment teams throughout the port neighbourhood.

The statement added that the show would be organized daily in the evening at the Old Doha Port throughout the Eid days, which brings joy and pleasure to the visitors, especially the children. Located at the centre of the Doha Corniche, the port offers several marine activities, including renting cruises and bikes, and other activities.

The port management called on the public to visit the port and enjoy the special activities during the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

Executive Director of the Old Doha Port Mohammed Abdullah Al Mulla said that the Eid activities are a continuation of the activities that began before the month of Ramadan and will continue until the summer vacation. He pointed out that the celebrations are characterized by the popular atmosphere to revive the popular heritage and preserve the marine culture, which is a major part of the Qatari culture and closely related to the history of the port, its location, and the prominent place it occupies in the history of maritime trade, the renaissance of the state, and customs associated with the sea.
