GEMS Wellington School, Qatar celebrated International Day for the first time. With the objective of celebrating the many different nationalities at the school, it was a significant day with over 52 countries being represented.
The event saw the whole school community dressed in their respective national costumes and the children proudly participating in a school parade.
A stage show hosted by the head boy and head girl of the school, celebrated the diversity of cultures in the school. The students were entertained by national dances and songs from around the world.
GEMS Wellington School Principal Jonathan Dey said:"GEMS education truly believes in instilling the core values of global citizenship, which is one of our key philosophies. We believe experiences like these will help our children grow, and having events like this further helps our students appreciate unique qualities of people across the world and enable them to become true global citizens."
Over 20 colourful and informative stalls were created, giving students, staff and parents the opportunity to sample food, as well as be educated on traditions from different countries.
