Two-time Oscar nominee Laura Dern is reportedly in contention for the position of President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
With current president Cheryl Boone Isaacs's term of office endingin July, the board of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will soon be voting on a new leader.
According to several sources, the actress is interested in taking over the reins after being elected to the board of governors last July.
If she runs and wins, she would be the fourth woman to hold the office, after Isaacs, Bette Davis and Fay Kanin.
Dern did not respond to a request for comment. It's generally frowned upon by the Academy for anyone to be seen as campaigning for the position of president. (IANS)
