Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that he has spoken with French leader Emmanuel Macron about a new weapons package. “It is very important that Russia receives stronger and stronger signals that the world will not forgive Russia’s terror,” he urged in his evening video address. He said that Ukraine and its partners must act with the greatest possible unity and integrity to “protect our shared values” and avoid prolonging the war. The leader thanked his country’s international allies for their weapons, money and other aid supporting their war with Russian forces. Zelensky thanked Denmark for howitzers, Slovenia for armoured vehicles, Spain for tanks and Germany for the planned delivery of more armoured vehicles and grenades. Ukraine is receiving $1.25 billion from the US to support its budget, Zelensky added. The Netherlands was preparing to train Ukrainian soldiers in modern weapons systems, Croatia was taking over the treatment of wounded soldiers, and Italy was ready to help reconstruct damaged parts of Ukraine.(DPA)
