Qatar has stressed the need for each member state of the League of Arab States to send a relief team to distribute aid to needy groups in Sudan.

This came as Qatar chaired the work of the extraordinary session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs at the ministerial level, which was held on Monday to discuss the humanitarian situation in Sudan, through videoconferencing technology.

In her speech, Minister of Social Development and Family HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misned, who is also the Chair of the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, stressed the need for each member state of the League of Arab States to send a relief team to distribute aid to needy groups in Sudan, whether for internally displaced persons, or refugees to neighbouring countries through official international channels.

She stressed the position of Qatar calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities, exercising maximum restraint, resorting to the voice of reason, giving priority to the public interest, and sparing civilians, including women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities, the consequences of the fighting, in parallel with all parties pursuing dialogue and peaceful ways to overcome differences.
