Doha

With the support of the people in Qatar and as part of its continuous humanitarian efforts to support the health system in the neediest areas in Ghana, Qatar Charity opened two new health centres in the cities of Tamale and Savlgo in the Northern Region.

Less developed regions

Many Ghanaian local and community leaders participated in the inauguration of the two health centres. They expressed great satisfaction with the vital projects implemented or under continued implementation by Qatar Charity in the less developed regions of Ghana to put an end to many development and service problems.

At the opening ceremony of the two health centres, the representative of the Parliament, Hassan Seibu Sehini, praised the quality of implementation and the completion of the centres in record time and pointed out that they are not the only ones in the region. Qatar Charity has old centres that work with high efficiency to provide the necessary health services to the community.

Health coverage

Both centres, funded by a Qatari citizen, include among others, departments for emergency, medical examination, childbirth and reproductive health, vaccination, pharmacy, and laboratories, in addition to patient waiting rooms.

The two health centres contribute to improving the level of public health and achieving development in rural areas that do not have adequate health coverage, by providing first aid services in emergency cases, maternal and child services, reproductive health services, vaccination of children and women, laboratory services for basic medical examinations, awareness, and health checks for common diseases, as well as dispensing of essential medicines.

Humane care

Hajj Muhammad Rifai, a dignitary in the Savlgo district, said that the community of the city of Savlgo and the surrounding villages are pleased with Qatar Charity opening a health centre in the heart of their city, which reduces the suffering of pregnant mothers who used to travel long distances to seek health services.

In the context, Dr. Abbas Adam, professor of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Development Studies in Tamale, said that Qatar Charity’s development contributions to provide a decent life for the beneficiaries are diverse and effective. He said in press statements following the opening of the two health centres that they thank the Qatari people and Qatar Charity for making others happy.

Relieve suffering

Muhammadu Ahmed, secretary-general of the Doku Society, stated that the construction of the centre came at the right time, and noted that they were in dire need to build a hospital in the region due to the increase in the population, which Qatar Charity responded to and implemented with its humanitarian donation the health centre that contributes to saving the lives of the sick and needy. Masa Bashir, assistant director of the Health Department, noted Qatar Charity’s humanitarian stand by the needy in Ghanaian society and its support for the development plan in the State of Ghana. It is worth noting that Qatar Charity has implemented more than 30 health centres throughout Ghana over the past four years, and the number of beneficiaries exceeded (413,000).
