New requirements come into effect from ThursdayTribune News NetworkDohaAll passengers on flights from six countries — India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and the Philippines — will have to undergo hotel quarantine upon their arrival in Qatar from Thursday (April 29), the Ministry of Public Health has confirmed. No exception will apply to such travellers even if they are fully vaccinated, the ministry added.“Home quarantine criteria is not applicable for travellers coming from these countries,” the ministry said, adding that recovery from a previous infection in the past six months is also not grounds for quarantine exemption. The quarantine period will be 10 days for those isolating in hotels and 14 for those in Meknes hostels. The ministry said travellers from these countries are also required to carry a negative RT PCR test done within 48 hours of departure from a centre approved by the local health authority."No one can board the flight to Qatar without a valid negative PCR certificate," the ministry said. All passengers transiting through Qatar should also have the mandatory pre-travel PCR test ... and in case they require another PCR test for their onward destination, they can have it at Hamad International Airport on a standard fee of QR300 per test, it added. The Ministry of Public Health in February had announced quarantine exemptions to fully vaccinated people following foreign travel, provided that they took the specified number of doses — one in the case of Johnson and Johnson and two for the others — waited for a period of 14 days after being fully vaccinated. In April, the ministry said people immunised with Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson vaccines abroad will also enjoy the same exemption.
