The Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC) Qatar hosted its flagship event, IBPC Tech Qatar Summit (ITeQS 2023), at the Doha Sheraton recently.

The event marked World Engineering Day for a Sustainable World and celebrated 50 years of bilateral relations between India and Qatar. Under the theme ‘Engineering Innovation for a Resilient World’, ITeQS 2023 delved into technological advances such as Artificial Intelligence, ChatGTP, and Machine Learning. It explored the intersection between technology innovation and sustainability, with a focus on the Qatar Ecosystem.

Eminent Qatari dignitaries addressed the event, alongside diplomats, businesspersons, professionals, business councils, and members from the engineering community. Jaikrishnan Menon, Chairman of IBPC, discussed the organization’s objectives and mission. Angeline Premalatha, Charge d’Affairs at the Indian Embassy, highlighted the deep-rooted and historic relations between Qatar and India during their 50th anniversary of bilateral relations. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the University of Doha and former Minister of Energy and Industry. He emphasised the importance of modernization and technology adoption across various sectors in Qatar.

The panel discussion, moderated by Nishad Azeem, CEO of Coastal Qatar and Member of IBPC Board of Governors, featured notable figures such as Dr. Hessa Al Jaber, former Minister of Information and Communication Technology and Chairperson of Es’hailSat & Malomatia, Ibrahim Al Jaidah, Group CEO of Arab Engineering Bureau, Sheikh Mansoor Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairman of MBK Holding, and Khalid Al Mana, Executive Director of Qatar Export Development, Finance & Promotion Agency. The panelists emphasized the significance of business innovation, early technology adoption, sustainable development strategies, and transformation opportunities in the Engineering Sector in Qatar.The event’s highlights included the launch of the Engineering and Innovation Awards for corporates and professionals by Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada and the unveiling of the IBPC Qatar App by Sheikh Mansoor Bin Khalifa Al Thani. Additionally, a Digital Wall displaying the faces of engineers who contributed to Qatar’s development was inaugurated. Jaffer Us Sadik, President of IBPC, concluded the event by summarizing the key takeaways.
