The field teams of Qatar Charity (QC), in coordination with Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), continued to distribute 50 tonnes of food aid to those affected by the fighting in Sudan.
In the city of Port Sudan, which received large numbers of internally displaced persons (IDPs) due to the war, large quantities of food were distributed to families hosting the IDPs, in addition to providing the necessary foodstuffs to the affected members of the Yemeni community who are waiting for their evacuation to their country.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Sudan HE Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al-Sada and Yemen’s Ambassador to Sudan HE Omar Abdullah Al-Madawi, along with the technical teams of Qatar Charity, took part in providing basic foodstuffs for the kitchen of stranded members of the Yemeni community, whose number is estimated at more than 2,500 beneficiaries in Port Sudan.
The Yemeni ambassador to Sudan revealed that the Yemeni emergency committee had received quantities of foodstuffs provided by Qatar Charity, in his presence and the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sudan.
He said the embassy and the committee appreciate this humanitarian support, which contributes to alleviating the suffering of the stranded Yemenis waiting for their evacuation to their country.
He explained that the Yemeni embassy in Sudan values the Qatari support, which exhibits the depth of the relations between the peoples of both countries.
Thousands of families from different communities and Sudanese citizens, who were displaced by the war and need urgent food and shelter assistance, have arrived in Port Sudan.
In a gesture that reflects the values of compassion and solidarity, many Sudanese families received tens of thousands of the IDPs in their homes in Port Sudan, the capital of the Red Sea State in eastern Sudan. Meanwhile, Qatar Charity took the initiative to support the families hosting IDPs with necessary foodstuffs and dates.
Qatar Charity supported the kitchens of the stranded communities in Port Sudan, where the central kitchen of the Yemeni community received dry food supplies to prepare meals for the stranded.
Mohammed Ali Al-Khazan, media officer of the Yemeni Emergency Committee for those stranded in Sudan, said that they thank the State of Qatar and Qatar Charity for their charitable work for the affected IDPs in the conflict-hit areas.
