Minister of Transport HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti attended the opening session of the 17th edition of Middle East Rail, which opened at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) in the UAE.

The event was attended by several ministers of transport and chairpersons and CEOs of some of the world’s largest railroad companies, in addition to key figures and manufacturing companies’ representatives of the transportation industry.

Highlighting aspects of eco-friendly and sustainable transportation, the two-day event is a platform for government and private sectors to showcase their best practices in the field of railway networks and sustainable transit systems considering the visions of the Middle East, North Africa and Asia region. It also aims at laying out plans and schemes for cooperation toward a better future in the railroad sector.

On the sidelines of his participation, Sulaiti visited Qatar’s pavilion, which features the Ministry of Transport and Qatar Rail. The event’s exhibition features hundreds of exhibitors and some 6000 participants from around the world.

Qatar has over the past 10 years seen significant progress in the field of railroad transportation. Its metro and tram systems are among the most important modes of modern, sustainable and eco-friendly transportation, integrated with the country’s public transit systems, thus supporting the Qatar National Vision 2030.
