A delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) is visiting Kuwait.

The visit, which will last for several days, includes a number of institutions concerned with preserving the environment and related scientific centres, where the Qatari delegation got acquainted with many work mechanisms and scientific research on preserving the environment.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change delegation was represented during the visit by Dr Ibrahim Abdullatif Al Maslamani, assistant undersecretary for Protection Affairs and Natural Reserves, and the head of the Qatari delegation, and Abdul Hadi Nasser Al Marri, assistant undersecretary for Environmental Affairs. Engineer Samira Muhammad Al Kandari, acting director-general of the Environment Public Authority in Kuwait, who took the delegation on a tour of the authority’s building.

During its tour of the Environment Public Authority, the Qatari delegation learned about environmental permit forms and the laws and regulations governing such permits, as well as the strategy of the Environmental Research Centre, and waste management and valuation projects, through visual presentations by the authority’s specialists.

The presentations also included biodiversity programmes and natural reserves in Kuwait. The representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change were also briefed on the experience of Kuwait in environmental protection programmes.

The delegation of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change also met with officials in the Kuwait Municipality, in order to learn about their experience on seasonal spring camping. The meeting also included the exchange of experiences and information in this regard, especially the procedures, conditions, and the regulations applied during the camping season in both countries.

The visit also included a tour of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research. The Qatari delegation listened to a detailed explanation of the programmes and research carried out at the institute and the mechanism of cooperation with other relevant authorities.

Officials of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change visited the Scientific Centre to learn about its vision and the various activities it carries out, where the two sides exchanged visions and ideas about the scientific research that is taking place in both countries to preserve the environment.
