Qatar Football Association (QFA) will hold the final match of the Qatar Emir Cup at the Khalifa International Stadium on Friday (May 19). This is the first Qatar 2022 World Cup stadium to be completed.
The final match will be held between Al-Rayyan Sports Club and Al Sadd.
"Now, the Khalifa International Stadium wears a modern look. We are happy that the stadium will host football matches again in Qatar. The stadium has been witness to the most prominent sporting achievements of Qatar and is a venue that is closest to Qatari hearts. The final is graced by the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani every year," QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al Thani said on Sunday.
The stadium will be protected from all kinds of weather conditions with a shade that covers the sides of the stadium. Advanced cooling techniques will also be used to keep the arena cool.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) has completed development of pitches at the stadium.
The pitch has been laid in a record time of just 13 and a half hours. The 40,000-seat stadium has hosted major events such as the Asian Games, the Gulf Cup, the Asian Cup.
