The newly-reconstructed Khalifa International Stadium will be lit with one of the biggest light-emitting diode (LED) sports lighting installation in the world during the Emir Cup final 2017 on Friday.
To ensure fans and journalists have all the information they need about how to make most of the match day at the stadium, the Local Organising Committee for the Emir Cup Final 2017 invited the media to a Stadium Tour Experience at the 40,000-seat World Cup 2022 stadium on Tuesday.
Mohemed Elamin Abdullah Ahmed, Project Manager, Khalifa International Stadium, said the unparalleled lighting system is considered as the first World Cup stadium to be equipped with LED lighting, which he described as the future of lighting.
"This lighting system is a world-class design feature, allowing visually stunning light shows to be created inside and outside of the stadium," Mohemad said.
"There are very few stadiums in the world with such design like the PSV Eindhoven, Amsterdam Arena and STVV Arena.
"The Khalifa International Stadium will truly change the spectator experience and the lighting system will interact with the roof lighting system, capable of showcasing a variety of colours."
"The energy-efficient LED lighting systems reduce costs and improve safety and crowd flow with well-lit areas in and around the stadium," he added.
The lighting system is designed and supplied by global lighting company Philips Lighting.
The aims of the Local Orgnasing Committee of the Emir Cup 2017 is to provide for an unforgettable experience inside and outside the stadium, and for media professionals, the ability to carry out their duties easily and efficiently.
The stadium tour provided journalists with information about the following match day situations, arrival at the stadium, entry lines, security checks, VIP area, locker-room and the media centre.
According to the official, the new features are in full compliance with FIFA requirements and include an additional seating stand on the eastern part of the stadium, the installation of innovative cooling technology to keep spectators and players alike comfortable throughout the match, and the construction of a sports museum within the venue.
The entire spectator area is now covered by a new roof, with an intricate net of German and Italian-made steel tension cables weighing 4,000 tonnes having been put up to hold the 92 panels in place.
The beautiful corporate box area has three layers with a perfect view and vantage position of the magnificent pitch. Corporate bodies are expected to take advantage of the prime and vantage position for their staffs.
The new Khalifa Stadium has more seats for the challenged-people ensuring they have a good view to be able to watch the match with a clear a very good view.
Cost of match tickets for this area will be disclosed by the LOC during a press conference on Wednesday that will give an insight on match day operations and general information for the fans.
Additionally, the Community Engagement Team under the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy working with the LOC showed community groups around the fan zone area -- the area where food, drink and entertainment will be available to the public during the match on Friday, will be located within the stadium premises.
The community groups comprising 19 expatriate communities will take centre stage from 3.30pm until 6.30pm in fun-related activities for families in the fan zone.
Fifteen-time champions Al Sadd will slug it out with eternal rivals Al Rayyan in the 45th final of Qatar most prestigious cup comeptition.
Al Sadd beat Al Sailiya 3-0 in the last final played at the stadium in 2014.
