Advisor of Cultural Affairs at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Thani’s workof three exquisite pieces of sculptures called‘Azm’ (determination) was createdon the occasion of the celebration of the silver jubilee or the 25th anniversary of the establishment of QF.

The artwork consists of three sculptural pieces of three women, wearing the traditional abaya and battoulah - reflecting traditional women’s clothing in the Qatari culture.

Sheikh Hassan said that ‘Azm’ symbolizes the homeland, and expresses the connotation of the artistic content, explaining that the sculpture was created from granite located in Aswan in southern Egypt, which the pharaohs had anciently used to make their pieces and sculptures.

He stressed his keenness to exaggeratethe design of the shape of the sculpture to show the influence of strength and determination during the national march. He was inspired by the strength of the nation amid all the challenges that it had faced during its journey towards renaissance and achievements. he said.

He concluded his statements by noting that this artwork was chosen by QF, as the work symbolizes the foundation’s logo (three branches of the Sidra tree), indicating that the creating this piece of art took him about two and a half years. It is noteworthy that Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization.
