Al Rayyan emerge Qatar Basketball League champions
A superb team effort led by Malik Romero Curry and Tahjon Komar Starks saw Al Rayyan beat Al Shamal 75-68 to secure their 16th Qatar Basketball League title at Al Gharafa Club Hall on Saturday. For the winners, Curry scored 13 points with 10 rebounds and nine assists, while Starks made a huge contribution to their score by adding 30, including a trio of three-pointers. He also made three rebounds and three assists. For the losing side, Uchenna Onyekachi Iroegbu scored 21 points with four rebounds and four assits. Sindou Ismael Diallo and Moustafa Mohamed Elmekawi also made notable contributions but couldn’t help their team deny Al Rayyan win. Earlier, Al Sadd secured the third spot after defeating Qatar SC 82-71 in the third-place play-off. (TNN)
