Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani stressed the importance of developing cooperation relations with the Kyrgyz Republic, the second stop of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s tour of Central Asia.

In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the visit establishes a new phase of trade and economic cooperation, aiming to capitalize on the available capabilities in both countries.

Sheikh Mohammed stated that HH the Amir’s visit to Bishkek presents an opportunity for businessmen from Qatar and Kyrgyzstan to discuss investment prospects in priority sectors that align with the development agendas of both nations.

Over the years, Qatar has pursued a policy of economic openness and active engagement with global markets, fostering productive international partnerships with friendly countries in non-oil sectors. These partnerships contribute to national development objectives and create opportunities for smart collaborations in new and innovative fields, he added.

The minister highlighted that this strategic direction is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to diversify income sources away from oil and gas. Thus, renewable and clean energies, food security, agriculture, the green economy, and energy are promising areas of cooperation between Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the vast opportunities for cooperation in achieving various developmental and social goals, including economic diversification, regional and international stability, sustainable development, and prosperity for both nations.

Sheikh Mohammed underlined that the agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between Qatar and Kyrgyzstan serve as a foundation for building a comprehensive strategic partnership and strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors, particularly in trade and investment.

The visit of HH the Amir provides a crucial opportunity to discuss the activation and optimization of these agreements, which will positively impact cooperation and relations between both countries.

The minister expressed the intention to work with Kyrgyz government partners to unlock new trade and investment opportunities, leveraging the economic potential of both nations. The aim is to facilitate access for companies from Qatar and Kyrgyzstan to promising opportunities in each other’s markets, focusing on priority sectors that serve as common ground between the two sides.
