Doha The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has advised people to beware of misleading and fraudulent advertisements relating to consumer goods. In a statement, the MEC said the issuance of a set of tips comes as part of the initiatives launched for the holy month of Ramadan under the slogan:"# less than duty". The MEC urged people to be cautious when they encounter advertisements or announcements about certain products with exaggerated descriptions, especially when buying through telephone calls from companies that do not have well-known headquarters. The ministry said misleading advertisements such as posting of inaccurate information labels on the products on display are aimed at tricking consumers into buying such things. (tnn)
