The College of Pharmacy at Qatar University(QU) will host the 10th Scientific Conference for Pharmacy Students in the Middle East (EMPS) from July 6 to 17, under the sponsorship of Dr Asma Al Thani, vice-president of Health and Medical Sciences at Qatar University.
This was announced at a press conference attended by Dr Feras Alali, dean of the College of Pharmacy at Qatar University, and notable partners such as Ebn Sina Medical Company, Qatar Youth Housing, Qatar Tourist, and General Relations.
The conference is annual gathering of pharmacy students from across the Middle East that aims to foster knowledge exchange, promote interdisciplinary education,and showcase the leadership skills of Qatar University’s pharmacy students.
Dr Feras Alali said, "On behalf of the College of Pharmacy, I am honoured to announce that the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) has selected the Qatar Pharmacy Student Association to host the 10th Scientific Conference for Pharmacy Students in the Middle East (EMPS), which will be held in July at Qatar University’s new Student Activity Center under the theme ‘Healthcare System through the Pharmacy Eyes’.
He added, "The conference is an annual gathering of pharmacy students and graduates from countries across the Middle East. It was first held in Amman, Jordan, in 2010, and Qatar hosted the second edition in 2011, receiving high praise for its warm reception and organisation.”
He also highlighted the development in Qatar. "We are very proud of the urban, cultural and educational development in Qatar, and this is the message of the Amir His Highness Shiekh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for Qatar Vision 2030,” he said, emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary education and applauded the tireless efforts of the students in organizing and hosting this prestigious event.
The 10th EMPS Scientific Conference will explore the pivotal role of pharmacy in shaping and improving healthcare systems.The conference also aims to achieve excellence in educational, research and public service fields. It fosters collaboration among students from across the world, enhancing their knowledge, skills and experiences in the field of pharmacy.
The conference will feature a comprehensive programme comprising specialised lectures to be delivered by industry experts, engaging workshops, panel discussions, and interactive sessions.
Attendees will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and develop meaningful connections with professionals and peers.
Dr Alali expressed gratitude for the efforts exerted by all Qatar University departments, such as the Communication and Partnerships Department, the Student Clubs Department and the Communication and Public Relations Department.
Dr Muna Al Ismail, vice dean for Student Affairs at the College of Pharmacy; and Dr Alla Al Awaisi, director of Clinical Operations and Partnerships, expressed their pride and appreciation for the student organisers’ efforts in hosting and organising this conference at Qatar University.
The conference is expected to attract a diverse range of participants, including pharmacy students, faculty members, researchers, industry professionals and healthcare experts. Through their collective efforts, the EMPS conference aims to advance pharmaceutical knowledge, inspire innovation, and shape the future of healthcare in the Middle East.
