Over a span one year, Qatar saw its population shrinking by 290,000 people, according to the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).
In the July edition of PSA’s monthly report featuring statistics of June, the authority said the population reduced from 2.79 million in June, 2020, to 2.50 million by end of June, 2021.
The report said the country recorded 1,932 live births in June, which also saw Qatari live births decreasing by 4.1 percent when compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 229 deaths were recorded in June, down 16.1 percent against May, 2021.
While 421 couple got married in June, 216 divorces were finalised in the month, showing a monthly increase of 8.7% and an annual increase of 4.4%. While the total water consumption has reached 57714.3 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly increase of 0.4% and an annual decrease of 3.8%.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 617.9 Billion Qatari Riyals during June 2021, an annual increase of 3.3% compared with June 2020. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 960.6 Billion Qatari Riyals during June 2021. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 8.6% compared to June 2020, when deposits recorded approximately 884.2 Billion Qatari Riyals.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 734 permits during June 2021, recording a monthly increase of 110.9% and an annual rise of 28.3%.
The total number of registered new vehicles during June 2021 has reached 5232 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 11.4% and an annual increase of 34.2%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 548 traffic cases were recorded during June 2021, showing a monthly increase of 7.2% and an annual increase by 51.8%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 91%, followed by severe injuries by 7%. However, 11 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2% of total traffic accidents cases.
One of the most prominent changes in this issue is the increase in total new driving licenses and total number of new vehicles registered monthly by 589.4% and 11.4%, respectively (from May 2021), and annually by 606.1% and 34.2%, respectively (from June 2020). On the other hand, there was an increase in total monthly traffic violations by 32.8% compared to May 2021. The highest percentage of this increase was for speeding violations (radar), amounting to 73% of total traffic violations.
Other prominent changes include the total e-government portal transactions that increased at a monthly rate of 42.2% compared to May 2021, with an annual average increase of 168.6% (from June 2020).
