You probably heard of the tagline, “It’s more fun in the Philippines!” Indeed, it cannot be refuted — there are so many characteristics and traits that are unique to Filipinos and are worth celebrating! That being said, in commemoration of the 125th Philippine Independence and Nationhood, Qatar Tribune asked some Filipino expatriates in Qatar on what makes them proud to be citizens of the Philippines. Here’s what they say:
“There are thousands of reasons to be proud of being a Filipino, prominent among them is our strong family ties that bind us together. Our compassion and generosity do not end up with our immediate family - it extends to our relatives and friends. We also have a very unique way of showing respect to elders (ang pag-mamano!) Overseas, we are well known for being cordial and hospitable that openly welcome and treat guests with warmth, kindness and great smile. More importantly we can easily adapt and cope up with different situations and challenges that enable us to blend in with different cultures, environments, and traditions.”
