Shotokan Karate Ryu recently held grading examination for senior karatekas. Three brown belt (1st Kyu) students were awarded first degree black belt (1 st Dan). Among them were Mirza Yousef Mansoor Baig, Shabana Riaz and Imran Ismail Dhondne. Atif Ayub and Abbas Hyder Khan were awarded 3rd Kyu (purple Belts). All the Karatekas showed results of their hard training by completing the Kihon (basic techniques), Katas (forms) and Kumite (sparring) techniques which were commanded to them. Shihan Mirza Gazanfar Ali Baig, founder of Shotokan Karate Ryu Qatar, was awarded 6th Dan by Kyoshi Muhammad Jahangir of “Kiyo Japan Shotokan Karate Association India”. The event was coordinated by Qaisar Ahmad Khan, Md. Ismail and Shaista Hussain.
