Novak Djokovic is the top favourite again for the men’s title at Wimbledon, according to his former coach and three-time winner Boris Becker.
Djokovic, 36, is unbeaten in 28 matches at the All England Club since 2018 as he seeks a fifth title in a row and eighth overall there from Monday onwards.
If he succeeds he will equal Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 Grand Slam titles, and remain in the hunt for a rare calendar year grand slam.
“He has already won seven times here, even though grass was not his favourite surface in the beginning of his career,” Becker told dpa.
“But he’s learnt grass court tennis over the years, and the amount of titles shows that Wimbledon is now his favourite tournament behind the Australian Open. He was very strong at Wimbledon especially over the last years.”
Djokovic has won the Australian Open 10 times, plus three each at the French Open and US Open.
Becker, 55, won Wimbledon in 1985, 1986 and 1989. He coached Djokovic 2013-2016.
