Several areas in and around Dukhan received light to moderate rain on Tuesday as hail showers were reported in Dukhan as well as Al Shahaniya, the Qatar Meteorology Department has said.
"Strong wind downdraft has been observed due to cumulus clouds, which lead to blowing dust and low horizontal visibility of less than 2 km," the QMD said in a tweet on Tuesday morning.
Rain, which is rare during summer in Qatar, is possibly an indication of tolerable weather for the rest of the summer, which lasts until October.
The summer season in Qatar starts in June and beats down with a fiery intensity until August before simmering down as the weather transitions to winter in December. This year's summer has been typified by intense heat, humidity and a general lack of rain.
