QatariNational English Debate team left yesterday for Vietnam to participate in the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC).
The event will be held in Hanoi from July 17 to 28. More than 70 teams are scheduled to take part in the global competition for high school debaters, which brings together teams from all over the world in a battle of minds.
The active participation of Qatari youth in the championship will be a moment of pride. QatarDebate completed the challenging task of training and providing support to the team in a limited available time frame.
The team’s incredible capabilities, along with intensive support sessions by debate instructors and the generous support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports has made it possible for Team Qatar to qualify for such a global event. Such global participations strengthen the partnership between the Ministry and QatarDebate.
The centre seeks to invest in the capabilities of the youth by channeling them into positive outlets that will benefit them in future and help them achieve their goals.
The National English Debate team includes Reem Al Aqili, Fatima Marafi, Fatima Almohannadi, Amira Ishaq and Mira Khalid Mohammed. The QatarDebate delegation facilitating and supporting the team is headed by QD’s UK ambassador Hawa Al-Jaradi and debate instructors Tasneem Elias, Mubarrt Wassy and, Sajid Khandgar.
