The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME)-Qatar Chapter recently held its second Technical Symposium at Steigenberger Hotel, Doha with the theme: Mechanical Engineer’s Sustainable Practices Towards SDG #7: Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG #9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
Chapter President Eng Henry Regalado PME kicked off the event with his warm opening remarks. He said the organisation embodies a strong sense of responsibility in rising above the challenges globally as they tirelessly commit to the enduring battle against climate change that causes global warming.
Vice-President of the Philippines Sara Z. Duterte sent her message to the Chapter saying, "I applaud your outstanding efforts to maintain a culture of cooperation and active engagement within the mechanical engineering community in Qatar and the Middle East. Your dedication in creating fresh approaches to align professional progress with sustainable development goals is a testament to our Filipino Engineers’ forward-thinking mindset.”
Keynote speaker Eng Loreto Catalan, PME, National President of PSME also shared his insights. PRC Board of Master Plumber Chairman Eng Reynald Ilagan, PME, and PSME Vice-President for Middle East Eng Shayed Mamayog, PME also shared their inspirational messages.
PSME Qatar partnered with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Enginers-Oryx Chapter (ASHRAE-Oryx) and Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers-Qatar Sub-Chapter (ISHRAE-Qatar Sub-Chapter). The three organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding, a collaboration that will focus on the technical skills and professional enhancement of the members.
Philippine Ambassador to Qatar HE Lilibeth V. Pono, the Guest of Honour at the event, thanked PSME Qatar for ensuring energy security through the use of sustainable energy alternatives and wrapping up the country’s post-pandemic development through the completion of vital public infrastructure projects.
Vice Consul for Philippine Embassy Hon. Monica Remsy Calangian served as the facilitator for the Oath Taking ceremony of SPLE’s newly passed mechanical engineers.
The programme was highlighted with discussions and presentations of technical speakers: Eng Sonny Calma-PMI Talent Triangle: Key Towards a Strategic Mechanical Entrepreneur; Eng Edwin Delgado - Six Phases of Energy Efficiency and Green Projects; Eng Paul Ryan Roque - Fire Protection Efficiency and Sustainability.
PSME Qatar, home of resilient Filipino mechanical engineers in Qatar, is known for being a proactive organisation that continuously deals with programmes and training to enable and enhance its members’ knowledge and skills to be more competitive globally.
This hybrid event was sponsored by Qatar Factory - a firefighting equipment & safety systems company and Trane Technologies - a manufacturing company focused on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems in Qatar.
