The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has eased some precautionary measures in line with the plan to gradually lift the COVID-19 restrictions.

As per the decision, students will return to schools at 100 percent capacity from Sunday, October 3, with certain precautionary measures in place.

Students will be required to maintain appropriate safe distance between them, which is a minimum of one metre at all times.

The school staff are also required to observe physical distance in employee rooms and offices.
All students and administrative and teaching staff must wear a mask while in schools and higher education institutions.

There is a need to apply the bubble system during the class and while in transition.

The buses will transport the students at 75 percent of its capacity. The schools will continue to implement the attendance and absence policy.

They are required to follow the precautionary measures such as washing hands, sterilising them with disinfectants regularly and disinfecting surfaces with sterilizers.

All students from the age of 12 years and above, employees and workers in schools, kindergartens and higher education institutions are required to carry out a rapid antigen test or a PCR examination approved by the Ministry of Public Health on a weekly basis. This is applicable for those who have not received or completed the doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Those who have recovered from the disease are excluded from the procedure.
