DOHA: Qatar Chamber (QC) held a meeting on Wednesday with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between them and areas of cooperation between the Qatari private sector and its Brazilian counterpart.
The meeting was held between QC's Deputy General Manager Ali Bu Sharbak Al Mansouri and the Secretary-General and CEO of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Tamer Mansour, and was attended by the Director of the Membership Affairs Department at Qatar Chamber Al Anoud Al Mohannadi.
Al Mansouri stressed the strong relations between Qatar and Brazil at all levels, especially the economic and commercial aspects, noting that there are a lot of high-quality Brazilian products in the Qatari market.
Al Mansouri reviewed the role of the Qatar Chamber in supporting and representing the Qatari private sector, noting that it promotes the national economy and the investment climate, as well as organises seminars, conferences, and exhibitions.
Mansour praised the relations between Qatar and Brazil at all levels, particularly in trade and economy, stressing that Qatar is a distinguished and safe country and an attractive destination for investment.
He also said that Qatar is the third country among the GCC states in terms of trade exchange with Brazil, pointing out that the countries' trade volume had seen considerable development within the past few years, especially in food and agricultural products, poultry, and meat.
Mansour reviewed a project adopted by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, ‘Easy Trade’ which is aiming to implement digital customs clearance for trade between Brazil and the Arab countries.
The project aims to facilitate trade and facilitate the export of goods and commodities, he said, adding that it is based on making a documentary link to all certificates issued by Brazil, such as health certificates, origin certificates, and invoices, verifying them, and sending them to the customs of other countries, including Qatar.
Mansour also mentioned the possibility to enhance cooperation between both chambers by establishing a model for re-export to be implemented with other countries and the possibility to make a link between the Information Technology sections on both sides to streamline the re-export process between both countries.
He also invited the Chamber's board members and companies to participate in the events being held in Brazil such as the Halal Forum which will be held in October.
The meeting touched on the possibility to organise a Qatari Brazilian business forum to bring together businessmen from both countries to review opportunities for cooperation and partnership in trade and investment.
Al Mohannadi said that QC is planning to make a link between the Chamber and the Customs Authority in a way that enhances cooperation with other customs authorities in the exporting countries.
