The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) will conclude its summer camp for children aged 10 to 13 tomorrow (August 15). The camp, now in its fourth week, has seen the enthusiastic participation of around 200 children in a diverse range of activities.
The camp’s organisers meticulously designed a comprehensive programme, in collaboration with several entities, including Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) General Directorate of Civil Defense, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Qatar Red Crescent Society, Al Jazeera Media Institute, Nomas Center, and Al Qannas Association.
The programme encompasses various aspects, such as education, mental and physical skill development, and the nurturing of religious, social and national values. Additionally, the programme features sports and recreational activities like matches and mental as well as physical games that contribute to enhancing cognitive and physical abilities. Team spirit is reinforced through collaborative games, fostering new friendships.
The camp’s administration has thoughtfully integrated field visits into the programme, introducing participants to Katara’s facilities, particularly those related to heritage. The organisers also emphasised the significance of maintaining discipline, cooperation and congregational prayers within the camp’s atmosphere.
Abdul Majeed Barakat, in collaboration with the Al Jazeera Media Institute, conducted a workshop on public speaking skills. The General Directorate of Civil Defense conducted awareness workshops on fire safety and accident prevention.
The Qatari Ardha training, provided by Nomas Center, is one of the most important activities that the participants enjoy. It connects them with their heritage and the customs and traditions of Qatar.
The participants were grouped for various competitions, including football matches, beach volleyball, and running and throwing events.
