Qatar Charity (QC) has organised an Umrah trip for 20 orphans under its sponsorship in Somalia, as part of the comprehensive care initiatives offered through the ‘Rofaqa’ programme.
The Deputy Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs of Somalia, Salah Sharif Sayid Ali, bid farewell to the orphans before their departure for the Umrah pilgrimage. He commended QC’s efforts in supporting Somalia’s orphans and providing them with comprehensive care, including the opportunity to undertake the Umrah pilgrimage. This initiative, he noted, reflects QC’s commitment to instill spiritual values in the orphans and enable them to visit the sacred sites. He underscored the significance of humanitarian initiatives in providing support and care for the most vulnerable members of society.
Yousuf Al-Khulaifi, the supervisor of the ‘Rofaqa’ initiative for orphans and underprivileged children care worldwide, said that the Umrah trip was part of QC’s ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive support and care for the orphans in Somalia and those sponsored across the globe.
He explained that sponsorship is not limited to providing basic needs for the sponsored; it’s a process of building and empowering a person. This falls within QC’s ongoing efforts to offer exceptional care services for the sponsored, he said.
He explained that the journey was part of a series of five trips organized by QC for those under its sponsorship in four countries: Turkey, Somalia, Ghana and Tunisia. He called upon the benevolent people of Qatar to contribute to the upcoming Umrah trips for the sponsored. The contributions can be made through the link https://qch.qa/umrah. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support and generosity of the benefactors in Qatar, he added.
Abdulfatah Adam, director of QC’s Somalia office, praised the academic achievements of the orphans and their memorisation of the Holy Quran. He expressed his pride in the participation in the significant journey that would enhance their faith and deepen their understanding of Islamic values and ethics.
The orphans also expressed immense happiness at the unique opportunity. Sudais Shafi Ahmed said, “I cannot describe my longing for the Holy Kaaba. We are grateful to Qatar Charity and our sponsors who spared no effort to bring joy to our hearts.”
Abdul Rahman Qasim Mohammed added, “Visiting the Holy Kaaba has been a big dream for me, and thanks to Allah the Almighty and the efforts of Qatar Charity, this dream has become a reality. I am grateful to them and excited to perform Umrah.”
Ahmed al-Rumaihi, director of the External Affairs Office at QC, and Yousuf Al-Khulaifi, head of the Programs and Development Section at QC and supervisor of the ‘Rofaqa’ initiative, visited the Somali orphans, who performed Umrah, during their presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This left a positive impact on them.
It’s worth mentioning that QC had earlier organised an Umrah trip for 20 orphans sponsored in Pakistan.
